Putins Blitzkrieg

Swedens FM Carl Bildt also uses the image of Hitler and his ruthless blitzkrieg when he describes Putins devastating destruction of Georgia. "We remember Hitlers doctrines", he says to Aftenposten today. The obvious question then ofcourse surfaces: Where is our Churchill?
What I think is particulary useful to do is to ask "what or who is NOT in the media" when I analyse newscoverage. In this particular case the answer is: Gordon Brown, Nikolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel. Even Norways FM Jonas Gahr Støre has condemned the Russian aggression together with Bush and Carl Bildt.
Why is that, do you think?

Hi Eistein,

I share your support and deep concerns for the current situation in Georgia. Unfortunately, I have little hope the International community will do anything beyond words to help end the crisis. Europe relies too much on Russia for natural gas and other energy resources. Any interferences in the war would conveniently interrupt these services. The U.S. is also reluctant to help because Russia has the upper hand of threatening to sell highly advanced nuclear arms to Iran, who is America's Public Psychopath enemy #2. The question is who will have the selfless courage to stand up and do what's right in the name of justice, freedom, and humanity? I praise Georgia for their continuing great efforts. May God bless Georgia and her people.

Hi, citizen.
You are absolutely right. The days of the great leaders are long gone. The pragmatism will surely strangle all of us in the end.
